Soooo.. The TR is now my daily driver
« on: January 29 2007, 10:07:48 PM »
For about 2 weeks...

I was at an area of Tampa called Channelside ( http://www.channelside.com/ ) with some friends- had a great night. Met Simeon Rice, a player for the Bucs, and had to fight off a cusomer/friend's wife (looked like a small Alicia Silversonte  :snakeman: ), when we went to leave the parking garage, me in my Caddy, left with a bit too much zest, not realizing I had parked next to a concrete piling. I spun the steering wheel left, and a sickening "crunch" came from the front passenger-side fender as it contacted the concrete. Concrete + 92 Cadillas fender = fender loses. Luckily, I have full coverage, (yes, on a 92 Caddy) and USAA will be covering the repair. I brought it to the recommeded body shop last Monday, they eval'd it, and told me to drop it off today. $500.00 deductible FTW!

Soo..

I dropped off the Caddy today, and I will be driving the TR for at least 2 weeks. They told me that it will be ~3k to fix the Caddy, one of the reaons is it's a 3-stage paint, it's that cream-white pearl Cadillac uses.

Hope the TR stays together for 2 weeks!

That 3 stage pearl paint is a bitch to match, if the body
shop hadn't expressed it that boldly. At one of my part time jobs,
we did a newer caddy, and the blend was a real pita. IF you looked
hard enough, you could still tell. Thats about the best you can do unless you
repaint the whole car.

I also had a large scrape down the passenger side door ( a claim I place last year, never completed, they added it ti this claim) , so they are basically stripping the entire passenger side down, and repainting it. He said they would have to remove the C_Pliiar and rear glass.

I love insurance. :)

You should be getting your income tax back soon. This
would be a good time to tint the windows and buy a set of Daytons.

Sorry to hear about that. I have always heard that for some reason white is a hard match.  I think any paint is hard to match up.

Mark, you're going to be like me, driving around with a full set of tools waiting for something to break. Surprisingly reliable though, I only break stupid things like sensors, nothing too major. Nothing YET.

Well, there was that time I spun out on the freeway and blew my front tire skidding over the median onto oncoming traffic, but that was driver error. And the Buick drove away.
