Some pics from Fairbanks Alaska

-40 F were I worked yesterday..sun came up at 9am and going down now at 3:45pm. My eye laskes had frost on them..not a little, I mean the were white. I tried to get a pic but the camera frosted up as soon as I got it out of the truck.
It was warmer today..it got up to -21 Oh boy....
Here a couple of pics, I don't get many pics..batterie s get to cold to fast and die

Great Pictures Jim! Dang, I am NOT going to miss those cold days in Chicago like that!  But then again -45 was never in Chicago, maybe -25 with wind chill.....that is just freaking cold.......... ...hope you will warm up when you get home..

I hope you get home soon. The last time we had temps close to
that, I had to rebuild my kitchen because the pipes had frozen and
broke. That sucked big time!

An interesting piece of trivia about the pipeline:
When it was built, wildlife activist claimed that it
would hinder wildlife population. In reality, It has helped
increase populations, because the small amount of heat
that it gives off is used as shelter by young animals such
as deer and moose preventing them from otherwise freezing to death.

Now over population is becoming a problem. Even around here, we've had a record high statistic of deer being hit by vehicles.
