Ahhh.. It feels good to work on the TR!
« on: October 14 2006, 11:20:39 PM »
After letting it sit for over 6 months since it got broken into..

I wrenched quote a bit today..

My stupid seat track (left side on driver's seat) broke in the front, it was weakened by rust. Both of the TR's I have owned have had this happen. I pulled the seat out, pulled off the offending track and fixed it.

I ground the metal clean, welded the broken piece to the track, and put a reinforcement plate on the bottom. Covered it with 2 coats of primer, and 2 coat of black paint - looks good!

Took the opportunity to spray liberal amounts of lithium grease on the tracks, thing slides back and forward with ease now.

I was eyeing the Turbobuicks.co m 200 amp alternator kit that's been rattling around in my trunk for over a year.. And decided to tackle that too. A couple hours later, that was done too.

I fired it up, looked at my volt gauge (Old 2 1/4 VDO out of a VW, pictured here: http://ihadav8.com/phpBB2/album_pic.php?pic_id=193 ), and it showed. 11v.

Oh! And I forgot - I installed the TPS Tech you gave me. Neat LEDs! :)

My TPS was set correctly...

I did a test fit with the crank in my block today. Mains are .0015". :supz:
No interference issues whatsoever.

I don't have a TPS tech, but I do have the volt booster.
The volt booster has worked well for me.

I'd have done that too, if the alternator I have now didn't have a lifetime warranty.

I'd rather have the kit to maintain original looks. Plus, rebuilding shit is fun.
My 1958 Mamiya can beat up whatever camera you just wasted your money on.
