Roger Waters plays Dark Side of the Moon live...
« on: October 06 2006, 04:38:47 PM »
...and I was there. Hollywood Bowl

No opening act.

Three guitar players who all stayed very ture to the songs, Waters, looking a bit old at 62 or so played well and sang well. A large video screen in the back played along with visual themes to go along with the songs and the mood of the concert. Pretty cool.

He played for about an hour and a half with a lot of the popular Pink Floyd songs that we all know and love. The last two songs of the first set were hyped up political anti-American songs that had the crowd of hippies and freaks cheering on like the treasonous bastards they are. I forgot to bring my Hippie repelent along so there I was, mixed in among the unwashed masses.  :finga: I was way into this show up to that point, then I was disgusted by all the anti-American rhetoric. At one point they played Pigs on the Wing and brought out a giant pink pig balloon that was being carried by a guy in a butcher's costume, all bloodied, with more anti-Amercian shit written on the pig in black spray paint. This had the fucking hippies out of what was left of their feeble little minds. Ultimately, they let the pig fly free.  :bigeyes;

They took a 15 break and came back out to play the Dark Side of the Moon album in it's entirety. Nick Mason came out to join the group which was cool. They played the entire album and it was awesome! I look around at the crowd and there are A LOT of people crying!  :rolleyes; Geez folks, it's a concert, a very good one, but a concert none the less. They ended the show with Another Brick in the Wall for the encore.

Taking the political crap out of it, it was seriously one of the BEST shows I have ever seen. One of the guitar players was just awesome. Great stage presence and could really bring to life the songs that sound even better live.  They played each song like it was the encore and each song would start out kinda smal and eventually build to a peak and then we would be hit with a wall of sound. Truely awe inspiring to have that much control of a live event like that.

I give it 4 Martinis out five with the only ding being the political BS. I go to a concert to forget that shit not be reminded of it.

I agree....glad to hear it was a good time except for the hippies.  I have heard that they put on a good show, plus have a great light show with it...

That sounds awesome....

I heard on the radio the other day that they're erecting a statue of Mr. Barret in his home town of Cambridge...th e DJ said something to the effect of: "...beautiful, home of the famed Cambridge University and right in it's midst they're gonne put up a statue of some dipshit who's claim to fame was having dosed an obscene amount of blotter."
