Back again guys! SM just quit working other day. Been trouble shooting and heres what I got. Start car and it displays start up info, then shows --- --- then goes to sleep so its not recieving a signal from ECU. I read where after it goes to sleep you can ground signal wire and it should "recycle" start up display....it dosent.
I also read where som ECU's fail in the area where it send signal to ADL port, and also the low speed fan relay and TCC solonoid. I have some new relays coming, the old ones seemd to work as they should.
Is there a way to test the signal wire to see if it is sending data, or do I need another SM to figure that out?
as always, thanks for any help!

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

If you had an oscilloscope you could see transitions on the ALDL wire ( not helpful I know)
Who doesn't have a spare ECM?
My experience is that Bob pretty much fixes them for life.

It turned out to be the computer wire that goes from the logger to the wiring bar, it was just slightly pulled out and that was it. Strange it came loose on its own.

Glad I took a look at this thread it reminded me that mine has either a bad ground or the chip needs to come out & get re seated. It scrolls thru all the 50's codes then 40's & 30's but always starts with the 50's.
I'll do that & take the PL out & see what it says when it cools down out here it's Hot this week!
