I ran it for 4-5 years with a generic motherboard and pentium4 and never had to reboot once. I'm sold. I dont have a copy of win2000 pro any more....need to find one...(hint, hint)

I don't have a disk, it was preloaded on the laptop when I got it. My
only bitch with 2000 pro, is that it won't work with alot of programs. I'd
often get strange errors when installing stuff, but whatever it would install would
work fine.

hmmm, must be something else, not win2000. I've installed tons and TONS of different programs and they always worked. A friend is having the same problem as you are...I wonder what the problem is? It cant be the OS can it? I've literatly installed a  couple hundred programs at least and they always worked.

I got a widescreen last year for $599 and it came with wireless card, DVD/CDRW,free printer, and free shipping.  Haven't had any problems with it.

I like dealing with Dell.A decent product for the average consumer
with English speaking tech support.

Robert, when installing some programs, I'd get an "A drive not present error".
So, I'd hook up the cable to the A drive and the error would change to"such and such file not present in my pictures" Really weird. McAfee Antispyware and
Ulead digital video both did that. Definately 2000 pro.

I never heard of that driver package. But, I have
downloaded all of the Microsoft updates.

They were my first thought.....bu t the bastages wont finance me and I'm hella cash poor right now.

Sylvan, I have a basic ( and i mean basic) old laptop that i dont use anymore.  I think it has windows 98 on it.  If you want it its yours buddy.  But let me tell you again when i say basic....you get the picture.  My dad gave it to me last year so i could run turbo link.  It didnt run it so i dont need it.  You want it its yours.
