65* WOT runs today
« on: March 10 2021, 07:14:34 PM »
Guys it was 65 degrees here in Rochester ,NY. Who would have thought.
Since I installed a new AC Delco water pump a month ago I hadn't had the chance to pull it out of the garage due to the snow let alone fire it up to see if I did a good job on the pump. No leaks by the way.

Took it around for a couple 0-80mph runs and it felt great. What 35mph sign.
Now I gotta pull off the 3" electric dump and fix the  :068: rattle when its closed before I go batty.
Just sayin

I am always amazed how good these old cars run when I get into one.  Glad it put a smile on you.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

Is that warm or cold for this time of year?  These cars are animals in the cold, crazy fast spool.

hot as hell for the time of season. its an Indian summer kinda vibe. today got up to 63 degrees and now there is drizzle, and  later today rain.. then in the next few days back to the 30's.

I got crazy spool hot or cold weather.

I wish I could say the same.  Are you still running the stock turbo and converter?  What is your best 60ft?

I am running a stock turbo with a ported inlet and enlarged wastegate hole to 0.950" and a mega ported stock elbow that accepts a 3" DP. Converter is a red stripe 2800 stall lockup type. 23 years ago I had a 1.73 60ft. but things have changed since then and I know I could most likely do way way better but I have no track slip. race prep tranny , power plate, and slicks since then and its a monster. I have not installed the BGC 23 row yet. Click the link in my signature for full details.

A 1.73 is respectable!  I know 60ft is not a good indication of spool.  But with my low milage car stock converter and CAI I put down a 1.67 60ft in 80'F with humidity not crazy high but getting up there.  My higher milage car with a TE44 could only muster a best of 1.8x in the heat with stock converter but on a 30'F day I went 1.61 60ft.  There were actually a few snow flakes falling that day. :icon_lol:  I am now running a Turbonetics 6468 with a .85 A/R and a 3200 9/11.  I might need a little more stall.  I notice way more punch when the weather gets colder.  I went from a 16 pos ME to a turbo tweak with wide band O2 correction.  And Steve Y is a great guy!  Always enjoy talking to him.

Steve Y is the King !

1.73 60 foot was with bald 235-60's though on a sprayed track. I know I am faster with the MT street ET's cause I can leave with 10-12psi boost  and before I was only able to leave the line with 4psi.  This recent testing was on the street though, with the slicks.
