GNX gauges?
« on: February 16 2019, 05:10:47 PM »
Do you guys know of anywhere I can order the base plate, applicator and stuff to make my own GNX guages?  I tried http://www.gnrestoration.com/gnx-parts/

I phoned and sent an email but got no reply.  Is there anyone else that can set a guy up?

He prolly can substitute the gauges he has for the ones you want.

Recessed looks tougher to fab- looks like vacuum formed?, the flat style looks easy enough.

Then again there's always Paul Castle at World of Motorworks?  :hmm

However, I'd recommend your safest bet would be to wait until Nancy or Russ gets back to you from GN Restorations.

They are located in PA and both frequent Kirbans' Performance open house so you might reach out to Dennis to try and get in touch with them.
I've personally met them there on several occasions & can vouch for their credibility. They are a stand up vendor!

FYI....they are on facebook too
try 888-421-4448
or
MrSmith@GNRestoration.com

Just sayin

I have gauges, so that is not going to work.

I heard they were stand up people.  I did phone the number but it said the number is no longer in service.  I double checked and dialed it a few times.  I did send them an email.  They could be out of town.  Hopefully they get back to me soon!

I would prefer the actual GNX look but if I can't get a hold of GNRestoration I will keep that in mind.  I do have the Poston VDO gauge set in my other car.  I'd like to get the kit GNRestoration is selling and maybe add it to the other car as well after I look at both for a while.

Something like that?
Yes but it is missing the cover and a bunch of other things which kind of makes the separate buying a little too expensive for my liking.

That's exactly what I did with mine. I kept my VDO gauges (out of my AVC GNX style Dash) and went with GNX reproduction dash parts , just like you are considering.  Nancy & Russ weren't involved with GNX dashes in the early days when I did mine (prolly 10 years ago now), so I bought my dash parts from Paul Castle (World of Motorworks). I eventually got all my pieces but if I recall correctly it took a while and quite a few phone calls before I received all my parts in hand!

Stay the course with GN Restorations, I too prefer the look of the original GNX dash.  May I suggest reaching out to Dennis Kirban to try and reach Russ & Nancy on your behalf.

I actually saw your dash on the other board and it inspired me to do the same.  Your dash looks great!  I love the look of the period correct equipment!  I'm just going to order the unit today.

So what would a happy price be for that piece? $100? . Maybe I need  to talk to my mold maker...

Dave those were selling for $100 only months ago!

Talked to Russ this morning, seems like a good guy.  But for some reason his 888 number does not work for me. :hmm   Can't wait to get the new dash in!

Cause you are Canadian. Not all those numbers are international. Good luck.

He has family from Nova Scotia, said he use to go there in the summers all the time when he was younger.  So, technically he is Canadian! :icon_lol:
