Window dew wipes-inner staples?

The window fuzzy (not a fuzzy on our cars) is attached to the upper door panel with some staples...I wonder where you find replacements?  I have seen them advertised for Mustangs but not for our cars.

Or use a small aluminum rivet?

Looks like it's time to rebuild the upper door hinge again as well. And, the power antenna broke the nylon "rope" again plus it appears the vacuum switch in the hvac switch panel broke for about the fourth time yesterday not to mention the wiper washer pump is not working for about the sixth time...

Can't just reuse the staples? Probably have to poke a hole in the fuzzy part but that is the way I went. I pulled the window out to do the outer. Not sure if that is needed bit I sure looked easier to me to just get it out of the way. I had to drill some holes for the outer as it appeared whoever installed em at the factory  just eye balled em.

I was trying to be prepared in case one or more broke...they have a strange angle on the legs on the back side of the door panel.

The new ones appear to have the holes very close to the holes in the panel but that does not mean they will actually match up.

I had no one to help me and I was afraid to drop the window down because I knew it would come out of the tracks and I figured I would end up breaking it if I tried to pull it out.  Maybe if I knew what I was doing, it would have been okay.  When I did the outside one, one of the screws on the end was missing.  I found it down in the door.  But when I put the new one in, I could not get one of the middle screws back in so I ended up with three out of four going back in.  If I had some one with small fingers, or a magnetic right angle screw driver shaped like an allen key, I probably could have got it started.  The outer one lined up perfectly with the factory locations.  These big doors and windows create their own problems.

I think that is why I pulled the glass out. It was in the way. I think I laid a blanket out on the deck lid and set it there while I worked. I guess if a staple broke some wire or rivet could work . Been yrs since I did mine.

As far as hinges I bought a set off rockauto. I had previously put pins and bushings in the suburban door but the regal ones are different so I just bought the whole hinges set. I did the pass side still need to do the driver side.

As I have already done mine once (driver's door), it should not be too hard to do a second time...easy to say   Getting the original pins out is no fun, but the replacement pins can simply be knocked out.  Probably have to knock the lower one out as well to be able to get to the bushing so you were probably smart to just change the whole hinge...

The Sundance is a neat little car...just the wrong time to be working on cars...

I just cut the pins on the suburban with a sawzall. Not like you are gonna use em again. Way easier than trying to knock em out with the limited space. The regal the whole hinge wasn't that much from rock auto. You can use the 5% code to cover the shipping.
 it was kinda hot at 8:39 pm. I got the new housing, water pump and some of the brackets and belts on there.

I'm a little lost... You don't have to drop the glass to mess with the inner dew sweeps, just remove the upper door panel.


About 15 years ago I replaced my original outer dew sweeps with factory GM parts (first asshole seller on eBay to not leave me feedback AND one of them got bent before boxing them up.) and the holes flat out did not match what I started with.

I guess the pull the glass was for the outer sweeps. Inner you just pull the door panel and go to work on it.

yep, Earl, you are confused   We were speaking about getting to the screws on the outer strips

In that case, lowering the window is much easier than removing the glass.


I've found wrapping speaker box carpet over the adjustable fuzzies brings the back to life too.
