Let's get a tally from everyone how old their fuel pump is. Mine is one year old. Let's hear from the rest of you guys.

Original :)  And I believe it is about done at ...I, forget  160Km?

I was just yanking your chain Brad, tho I would hope a well made pump would live 5-6 years. Well now that I think about it the Rendezvous didn't make 3 years, but we could argue "well made".

No worries. This thread may wake people up. If I save them a pair of head gaskets, then I've done a good thing. It hasn't been any fun building this engine/changing it in this heat the past week and a half.

I bought my Buick with a pair of used Walbro 242s in it around 2001 and sold it with those same pumps in 2016.  Never changed a HG.  So... yeah... I guess they don't build 'em like they used to, eh? ;)

11 year old factory pump in the TBSS with a Boost-A-Pump slapped on it; still going at 219,000kms.  Damn thing only has the original in-tank filter protecting it too.

Wagon has a year on the Walbro 255 in it now... a 450 goes in when the supercharger goes on.

My Weldon 2345A, before it was stolen, was almost 7yrs old.

Now that I'm starting all over, my fuel pump is brand new :D ...also cause we haven't decided if we are going to go 2345A or a mechanical Weldon pump, the 34712 which flows 12.5GPM (that is Gallons per MINUTE), ran off the back of my dry sump oil pump via a Waterman cable drive system.

If we go mechanical, I'll make sure to post up all the details and tons of pics!

I see they have an inline check valve available but I don't see any real reason to add one.  It might be a restriction to a slight degree and starting the pump slightly in advance should provide a very reasonable start.  Your initial video was not bad.

That is huge!  Did you have to increase the size of the fuel line?
