I remember posting something here a while back about my brake pedal pushing back against me under acceleration. After years of dealing with this(lazy), I finally did what you all had suggested, which was buy a one way valve. I actually found a direct replacement valve for the brake booster, and now the brakes are working great again. Just finding shit to do until this turbo gets here.

The check valve from a 94 camaro works best. It sits below the valve over and has a special silicone check valve that tends to hold up to boost a lot better

Port the wastegate hole. I don't wanna fly down there and change the headgaskets.

This is what I purchased for my brake booster and it works great. Are there other check valves I should look for outside of the brakes?

And lastly, why does the wastegate hole need to be ported? The actuator it came with won't seal properly?

It'll seal...but there's some physics involved with the pressure on the puck. I'll let the others chime in that are more knowledgeable. I have mine out to about .900...but if you go to far the boost won't come up high enuf. It's not an exact science. I'm also using a biggie puck from RJC to keep the boost under control.

I'm using the rjc boost controller for controlling of the boost. I'm definitely curious to see what else is to be said about this. I'm assuming boost creep would be an issue if the wastegate hole is too small right? I have the boost turned down a lot right now, so I'll test it out to what it does out of the box

I have an RJC boost controller still sitting here in the package. I adjust the rod for the amount of boost I want. Yeah, I know...my car's boring.

One of the locals went to a 67 turbo a few years back. He didn't port the wastegate hole...leaned into it...and went home and changed the headgaskets. He'll prolly see this and wonder how I know...lol!

Lmao!!! Damn that's messed up man! Hopefully I have better luck. I'll keep a close eye on boost. The rjc boost controller works wonders compared to the stock setup. Builds boost so damn fast it should be illegal. I love it. Probably helps with understalled cars for too big of turbos as well.

The wastegate works by passing exhaust flow mass around the turbine wheel.  If it can't bypass enough it can't lower the boost.  At the same time exhaust back pressure is acting on the wastegate puck trying to force it open.  If it's too open the wastegate will crack open early and bleed off boost.

I understand the operation for sure...I guess every turbo itself is different at the port.
