so The Vega is about to start its transformation
. Its going to be a bit of a sleeper stock 4 link suspension with a 12 bolt that has 456 gears lol. I can get a 373 for the 4 series carrier which should be good, its going to be a small tire 8.5 x 26 slick at the track and a similar sized drag radial on the street. My 2800 stall will be too tight I think for this light weight losing 1000 lbs changes things 3200 or even 3400 stall would like to keep the lock up? Was also considering a cam swap to move power up in the rpm so its not flat lining at the end of a 1/4 mile pass what do you think?
The Barns almost ready for this project

yes sir my current set up is going on a diet
the Regal has been my pride and Joy but the frame is suspect in the typical spots and I have loved the V8 Vegas since I was a teenager seems like the perfect idea!
So instead of a GNX it will be my GNV

lol yes my LC2 is going in it still just going to be a street car with single exhaust....
I beat up on a few of trailered race cars with the flying brick and that running gear after each race they would be over looking under the hood shaking their heads won first place one night at the arm drops and had a guy gutting himself when he saw me put the radials back on to drive it home.
1000 lbs is almost a full second in the 1/4

Okay, then piss on a LU convertor. My car comes in at 3480 with me in it. It's an AC 16930...that's very tight. All you'll do with a LU is blow through it. With the car being lighter, my bet is you wouldn't need as much RPM to get it to come off the line hard. I can pull 1.5's with my car with low gear fuel/timing dialed in with this 6262 and AC 16930.

373 gear is way too much gear for that combo. IMO look for 308 or less. Think about this. yes 1000 lbs is 1 second in 1/4 however also 10 mph so whatever you are trapping now add 10 mph and work with that number.
also at 2800 lbs you would not be loading the turbo at all with 373 gears and 26 in. tires.
In a previous life I tried 410 and lost 3 tenths mostly in the 1/8th

The 3.73s with tighten the converter too. If I'm thinking about it right. If the brakes hold as well as the Buick it should "brake stall" nearly the same, but it's going to flash completely different.
Might be worth a discussion with Dusty Bradford.

Larry, one of the very best south of the border who runs 9.9x consistently with a stock stroke 109 and a FULL WEIGHT TR uses 3.23's with a 28 inch rear tire. With the RPM band in my car...and if I were running the 1/4 instead of the 1/8th...then I'd be running 3.23's.

Would seem to allow him to match his rpm band and use all three gears

Thanks gents my original thought was a 3.23
I speculated that the tire size and the weight would make it difficult to create load for the turbo.
Did some research on a gear set and with my 4series carrier the lowest I can get is 3.73
This would be great in the 1/8 but probably hurt me in the 1/4
I could always try a spool this 12 bolt has 9" ends and 30 spline axles.
