Razor Alky Pump-How To Check?
« on: August 13 2017, 08:40:50 AM »
The green/red light comes on as well as the Power Injection bulb on the dash...but the engine doesn't bog down when the test button is hit. How do I go about checking the pump?

I would think you could disconnect the feed and secure it into a receptacle and hit the button and see what comes out. From what I've read the pumps don't last too awfully long and require an overhaul pretty regularly.

What do the O2s show when you hold the button down?

Rich, I heard they have to be rebuilt fairly frequently as well.

Steve, I'll check that today and post back.

I'll likely sell this alky setup when I find out what's wrong with it...and get what I can out of it. Plan is to get a 94 street chip from Eric with 20 lbs of fuel in it.

The one I put on the T can be barely felt with regard to bog, but, the O2s go way up in the 800's and I have no knock under boost.

I'll throw the laptop in it and check 02's via PL.

it also depends on where you have the gain, or  amount setting , on the controller,
mine makes little difference  in rpm when I test it,
never checked the 02, thanks for the tip!

If you sell it I will buy it :D I am starting to keep an inventory and that would be a good addition. I am going to get the test kit for mine over the winter from Julio

I have my alky kit settings at stock & if I hit the test button in Drive at a stop light it will almost stall out. The car runs on the rich side to begin with so that may be a factor?

Normal......I've Julio's kit on my car since 08. 1 pump so far, and have a fresh one on shelf. Prob is, they begin to leak and it's sometimes tricky to pick up if your a straight meth runner like myself. Evaps real quick, if you see the take level dropping more than usual, its probably leaking slowly. Something going on if it doesn't wanna snuff out at idle after 2-3 quick hits on the test button.

Whether is was the SMC kits I used in the past or Razors, when the test button was hit it would pretty much drown the engine out. As per Steves request I checked the 02's and they didn't change...so the pump is fukd...or not getting voltage...whic h I need to check. I went to race gas as I just don't trust these kits. If E85 ever becomes readily available up here I'll run it. I do a ton of reading on the E85 forum on the other board. It's the way to fly.

Yup, it ain't spraying or something is wrong with the wiring/controllers, etc.

E85 looks pretty neat if you can get it.

Make your own . YOU can control the quality and get it up to e98, I don't believe it's illegal to own a still but it is illegal to sell what you manufacture.

Also Brad; you should ask about it where you buy your race gas.
