Yes, always roll them or cut them out and weld in a 1/8" rod along the seams.

Pardon the pre-Summer tangent.

Great info guys thank you. I'm still unsure what I'm going to do now since new ideas came about. I'm leaning to the side that it will be ok to roll the fenders (gulp). I like 'em fat back there. I'm not going to do much drag racing so I'm thinking a wider footprint is fine. Ahh, can't wait to go back to rwl coopers.

Keep opinions comming.....

Everything you ever wanted to know about tires/rims for our cars...and you don't need to roll the fender lips. Any further questions, ask. I've run everything.

Personally I think there is no need for a tire wide enough that requires the fender to be rolled. I just don't like the looks unless it's on a wagon

LOL - so the 345s work for you, eh?  I cannot wait to put 390s on the back of the Monte. ;)
I like that the wagon has more metal back there to fill out the stance

I planning on going back to Cooper Cobra rwl. 225 in front 275 in back. Tub....hell naw  I'd cry. I'm having a hard enough time trying to pull the trigger on rolling the fenders. Frame notch may maybe maybe in maybe in the future, imho, it makes the car better if done properly.

I run 295 Cobras with non rolled lips.   They do kiss the outside tread area when doing my Dukes of Hazzard impression.

Thank you scoobum. I think I'm settling on buying some 8 inch rims with four inch back spacing. I can't remember so I don't want to say but I believe the backspacing on the 10 inch rims was 4.5.

Looks like cooper has expanded their cobra tire line. I swear they only sold 225 and 245 back in the day. Earl says 295? Damn son!

If i trim Trim the trim it looks like I won't have a problem with 275 coopers on an 8" rim. Soon I'll be measuring the BS on my current rims. Like I said, I think it's 4.5, that could be my whole problem.

it's some what dependent upon the particular tire (all brands do not have the same dimensions for the same tires), but I have generally been able to run 275's on 8" 4" b.s. wheels without any rolling/triming

Thanks Steve for making me feel even better about my direction.

275/60r15 on 8" rims with 4" backspacing for the rear.

I should be golden.

Several of the aftermarket rim manufacturers offer only 3.5 and 4.5 backspaces in an 8 inch wide rim.

I have two types of Centerlines on my cars.  the first pair I bought were Autodrag IIIs that i put on the back of my GN.  The second were a mag style (think they were from the Centerline Legend series) that I put four on my son's T.  I put 7's on the front and 8's on the rear.

Centerline catalog seems to be down online at the moment.  Here's a link to Summit of the aluminum wheels they have that fit the criteria.  They list only one type of centerline but Centerline has more.      https://www.summitracing.com/oh/search/part-type/wheels/wheel-material/aluminum?N=4294920795%2B4294920825%2B4294920837%2B4294947557%2B4294920860%2B4294920367&SortBy=Default&SortOrder=Ascending&retaillocation=oh
