Are the covers aluminum or some other fancy metal? I guess they need a mcgard bolt or something to keep the thing on there. Seems like a cat converter would bring more money. I guess it is harder to steel with the cutting compared to un screwing some bolts.

Its just stamped steel.  Worth 50 cents or so at the scrap metal dealer.

I scrapped some metal a couple months ago and got $3 per HUNDRED pounds.  Clean aluminum was 35 cents a pound.

...and I had to let them copy my license while i stood in front of a camera waiting on my check (not cash).


What an odd theft.  Sounds almost like a huge unfunny prank.

I sold a bunch of brake rotors (150LBS) , An old Chevy Truck Driveshaft (5 lbs) and a brass heater where rockauto sent the wrong one and got $22

$10 was from the driveshaft and $10 was from the heater core.

If it is just stamped then id have to be thinking someone doesn't like that trucks owner.
