That could be the car. Does it look like it has been wrecked in the front in the past? The owner had a set of wheels like that.

Is it silver or grey?
The one I knew came from Tyson Buick in ft worth. Original owner ran it onto several things in the front and eventually the insurance totaled it and he bought a turbo trans am. Do the wheels have the bob Glidden stickers on them?

It's gray. I can't make out any previous damage. Was told the car came out of Houston area.

Had a new surprise today and goes against everything I've read and been told.

Gotta take up the slack some how.

You are doing fine work. Another one back on the road when you are done.
Does it have a real big braided fuel line that conleys did to pretty much every one they worked on? Cat delete pipe with cut out?

Is the tensioner all chewed up? If not, run it.

No braided fuel line. No test pipe either.

After I pulled the cover I got side tracked with the father in law and didn't get a chance to pull the tensioner to have a look at it.  I'll get it this morning and see

Then I doubt conleys worked on it. Lots of miles on it? Crazy with all the wire nuts . Looks like something my dad worked on.

Had a new surprise today and goes against everything I've read and been told.

If the outside of the chain is smooth you can run a tensioner. Most roller type links are dogboned shaped and beat the plastic to pieces.

It's hard to tell from the shadow but the tensioner doesn't look that bad.

The bottom gear looks like it has very pointed teeth so that would explain all the slop.

Made some progress on this heap today.  I sure would like to choke out the previous "mechanic."

Probably need to drop that pan and see about the oil pick up.

Pulled my nitrile gloves off to get my phone out to take the pic. Eczema gets really bad in the winter months and cracks around the nails are terribly painful. I try all I can to keep them from not splitting open.

Pulled the pan and we were fortunate there. Oil pump was pretty tuff to turn. Someone installed the taller gears with the steel plate but didn't bother to shim or ream the bolt holes for a proper fit. Really surprised it didn't break the cam sensor or strip a gear.
