Does this young fella know how to wrench on a car? He's lucky he's got you to help him out for sure. A shop would have a field day with this.
Is the car itself in decent shape?
He's got initiative and says he knows the lt1 and ls1 inside and out. He stayed the whole time I pulled the engine harness. Told me to call him when I was working on it and he would come help. I hope to have it up and running after this next work hitch.
The initial plan was to change the fuel pump, run a hot wire kit, change valve springs and timing chain/gears. That took a right turn when the car got here to the house. We couldn't even get it off the trailer. Fella had put on some 28x10.5's slicks and they were all in the wheel well. Gouged the sidewalls pretty good before it finally wouldn't move at all. Had to get the tractor and pick up on the rear bumper with the bucket just to get it to roll. Told me he used ratchet straps to get it on the trailer.
Fortunately, I have a some stock parts here just collecting dust that we can use. Plan now is to put on a stock cooling fan, stock intercooler, change the valve springs, timing chain/gears with a roller cam button in the hopes that the cover is not too worn, and lastly another engine harness. I have two stock harnesses here. The one from the limited which worked great on a stock ignition setup and the other came with the barn motor when I purchased it. It's functionality is unknown to me but was supposedly on a running car before that fella blew a head gasket and decided to go the LS route.
As for the car, frame and body are pretty damn solid. Factory Astro roof car that functions. Interior is super rough. Original paint with lots of cracking. Surprisingly the fillers are there and not cracked but I haven't touched them to to see how frail they are. Lots of crazy wiring all over the place. Headlight bezels are trash. I'm pretty certian that I wouldn't have paid $4k for it.
