How much sence does this make? PL screengrabs inside.
« on: August 22 2016, 02:35:23 PM »
I wasn't going to post this one but it was already on my flashdrive so screw it :)

(note: I inverted my wideband graph so rich is higher)

While running lean right around stoic, the narrow band will just stop talking.  I would imagine the ECM wouldn't do anything (as evidenced by the wideband not getting richer if the BLMs are locked...  But in this case, I have an extender and the ECM can read past 255 now.  When I enriched  the mixture the NB stopped fruiting out and the line was closer to a match.

On the second one I'm showing 8.1 degrees of knock retard...   but my timing went from 30 to 30.4 degrees.   Where's the retard?  It would make sense to me to see an inverse of my knock curve on the timing. Actually it would make sense to see MORE of an inverse curve as it's harder to cure knock than it his to avoid it.

This is the other one I actually meant to grab.

The ECM is commanding full chattering of the boost control solenoid.  Then it starts to know and just keeps on keepin' on.  It's like it just doesn't care. Or can't be bothered to pull the timing or lower the boost.

Does a stock chip pull the extra boost and new chip burners reallocate that space for goofy stuff like flashing the check engine light as a shift light?

I went back and looked at my file from July when I overboosted the engine. The ECM pulled no timing...and the KR went to 14.8 when it orbited the gaskets. I don't know how much KR is required for the ECM to pull timing...must be a shitload.

I've seen fried ECM's do some stupid shit. I had a TPS issue with my car a few years back. Norbs had me do a TPS check with the key on...engine off. Looked like a sawtooth pattern. Swapped the ECM...and all was well. Norbs figured something on the circuit board took a shit.

That's what I don't get.  Knock retard and knock counts aren't the same thing.

and I'm pretty sure that 'knock retard' is what the scanmaster/powerlogger is supposed to be reporting.

It's been a while since I read up on this but the jist of what I recall is 'degrees of retard is relative to whatever advance is commanded at that time'. It's not an actual number minus an actual number.

But I see a point blank number of degrees of retard yet the timing map stays the same.

I just thought of something typing that out....

I wonder if the powerlogger reports the intended map not the actual timing with retard. You know, sorta like how it will report made up MAF numbers if your MAF gets unplugged.

Although that wouldn't explain commanding the wastegate to keep on chattering (unless that's ficticiius too)

That's the one thing I hate about tools. You have to learn when not to trust them.

That chip wasn't expecting the extra cubes and flow mods.  It was the first pull before adding fuel.  (and, who'daguessedit, the one with the most knock :) )

That's why I stress having a chip burned for the exact application. What baffles me is the out of control timing.

Add 12% to the chip you are borrowing and go from there.  Drop the timing to 18 degs in all gears.  That should take care of both engine size and compression on straight gas.   If the chip you are borrowing is an alky chip, then add the max fuel allowed by the chip and back down as Eric pulls gas with his alky chips

Pretty sure the one on the way is not an alky chip.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, since you can't get ahold of Julio,  if you need this Razor's kit I have here just let me know. I can mail you this one and you can replace it when you track him down. That'll get you running and won't do anything but free up some room in my living room. :)

I'm not even going to think about installing it until I get my shit straightened out.  And since i was to pull the entire dash and to the alarm and HVAC stuff at the same time I seriously doubt it'll get installed this year.

I've got some under paint rust bubbles too, so there's a chance my car is going to spend all winter at the body shop (assUming they make good on the job)

Chip was sent express and should be there tomorrow.  Ill try tracking it a little later.  It is burned for a stock engine 60lbs injectors, 16-18psi, 93 octane, 20°/ 18°, and its a 5.6 version and not alky sorry.  Definitely not an optimal burn for you but hopefully will at least allow you to sort out this knock issue.  And get a feel for what you want to order.

Dude...  Express??  Fist class would have been more than enough.

Pm your paypal info so I can make you whole with the shipping. You can do it here or TB. I need to check back in over there sometime soon to see what a crybaby/asshole/knowitall/elitist I am.

And no need to apologize, my alky kit is sitting right here new in the box.  I won't even think about installing that until my car runs right without it.
