Just a little venting about life thread
« on: February 03 2016, 11:22:37 AM »
I'd have to say the last 6 to 7 months has been pretty upsetting.

It started when we lost a dear friend, Kermit Miller, to an atv accident.

Next we lost my wife's grandfather.  He was one hell of a man.  WWII vet. Retired mechanic from the border patrol.  He was in the late stages of dimensia.  Everyday for him was living in the 40's and 50's.  We went along with him but it was painful to see him not recognize us or when he would call his daughter by his wife's name.  She passed the first year that my wife and I were married 18 years ago.  Physically he was all there but the mind was somewhere else.  He would push the little old ladies around the retirement home.  One of which only spoke spanish.  We were amazed to see him translating and speaking fluent spanish.  My father in law said that he hadn't heard him speak spanish since the 70's when he retired and moved to foot hills of the Rockies in New Mexico.  We lost him to what was thought to have been a heart attack.  Turned out his heart had developed an irregular beat and he had just fainted from shortness of breath.  During CPR, one of his ribs was fractured and it punctured a lung.  He past in the hospital a few days later.

Next we lost a very dear family friends little 2 year old grandson.  This one makes me the angriest and will for a long while until I see justice.  The medical examiner ruled his death a homicide.http://www.kwtx.com/content/news/Local-man-charged-with-child-sexual-assault-in-toddlers-death-365589341.html

Then a family friend's uncle died of a farming accident.  Roland was 86 and there was never a cross word spoken of that man.  Was feeding cattle and left his truck in neutral when he was pinned between the door of the pick up and a fence post.

Late Sunday my Granmom had a severe stroke.  She's 85 and a shell of the woman she once was.  She's back at home with hospice and unresponsive.  I could hardly stand to look at her in that condition.  Weighing all of 69 pounds.  I admire her for having a living will.  No food, no fluids and a DNR order.  Her mind was as sharp as ever as I spoke with Sunday afternoon before the stroke. Physically she was brittle but her mind was sharp.

I've made my mind up....  When it's time, I want to go out quickly.  Take me out to the pasture and put me down.

I understand completely.  Life can really be difficult to understand and death is even harder as it touches us.  I much prefer a binary situation.  Either I am here and functioning, or I'm not.

Death of the young is particularly upsetting and when it happens as in this case, I just want to be the one that deals the justice.  I believe in Evil and I tend to believe I know it when I see it.  The only cure for Evil is its removal from the gene pool.

That's so tough. Sorry for all of this tragedy, especially in such short span of time.

damn sorry for all your losses in such a small span.

The story about the toddler is definitely the kind of thing that makes your blood boil.  How such a pos was even allowed to be out an about anywhere near children is infuriating.

There are many individuals lined up to serve him justice...  I am particularily thankful that I don't have a direct relations with the little boy as I don't feel I would be able to contain myself.

Life is so hurtful. I'm very sorry for it all. Especially the kid. I can't even open that link and read it. I gotta stay away from reading that stuff because it haunts me for months and I'll remember it for years.

Keep your chin up. Have thanks for the things that do go your way and keep moving forward. I hate to see that you are having a rough go of it. It is very difficult to see how people age and I sure don't look forward to it happening to me.

Enjoy the good times and know we are here for ya.

Sorry to hear about your loss.  My Dad had dementia, it was very upsetting seeing him fade away and forget the people around him.   I couldn't imagine the little boys parents grief.  Best wishes for the future!

Sorry Jason for the rough road. I'm glad that you can vent here and hope it gives you some kind of relief. I think it helps to share the tough times.

I do have some idea how you feel Jason. Having my father die in my arms when I was in my last semester at TSTC and my fiance dumping me long distance was a shock to the system.

You've got a lot more on your plate right now but you'll get through it. Your family and friends are here if you ever need to talk or just sit on the bank and put a line in it for a while.
And remember, when dealing with children, silence may be golden but duct tape is silver.

Granmom passed this evening around 640. I'm so glad for her. She finally gets to see grandad. She missed him so much. Probably making him a scotch and water and asking what he would like for dinner. Glad for her

Sorry to hear about the troubles and pain.  In difficult times it would be best to focus on the good in your life, find that joy and hold it close.
