Steve-Listen To This-Part Deux
« on: December 21 2015, 04:33:01 PM »
I get a TR owner come up to me 18 months ago. He has a low mile mint GN...he purchased it brand new. The PM is fukd. He asks what he should do. As the car is mint...low mile and bone stock...then I recommend buying a rebuilt PM from Kirbans...and having Dan and I install it or a mechanic of his choice. Doesn't want to use his CC over the phone or online. I then tell him we can swap out to a vacuum system. He doesn't know what he wants to do. I tell him in the mean time don't drive the car. He contacts me about 6 months later...and proceeds to tell me he backed out of his driveway...wen t for the brakes...and ended up across the street on his neighbours front lawn. I go over his two options again. He still can't make up his mind. I told him if he swaps to the vacuum setup...then he needs a vacuum pedal...or a template to drill the PM pedal for the different pivot point. He looks at me like I have three heads. Fast forward to today. He took the car...wait for it...to a KIA dealer to swap to vaccum brakes. They soak him to the tune of 1900 bucks...and he tells me the car doesn't stop worth shit. He says he should of brought the car to us in the first place. Come spring I'm gonna have to figure out what booster and MC they put in it...and what they did to the pedal...if anything. I need a drink...where's the whiskey...
Hard work pays off, dreams come true. Bad times don't last, but BAD GUYS do!

the lessons you never forget tend to cost money.  Whatever you do in the future is gonna sound cheap compared to 1900 bucks.

Some people cannot be rescued from themselves no matter what reward is posted.

I guess you can sell him a redrilled brake pedal for $500.00

Shit for that much he could have had a nice hydroboost setup, all new brakes, and still had cash in his pocket.

I would like to see what it look's like.

Like a Buick brake system made out with a Kia brake system. :chin:

Hard to help anyone at that point.
