Well, I got on part time or at least that us what i would call 4  hrs a day, so I've been working the laid off job when they call. I will take the eight to four shift there which means leaving the "part time " deal about seven so I can get over there. I made this clear to them at the part time that this was the way it would happen. So today the bosses boss tells me I need to make "a choice" . I told him the other place pays seven more dollars an hour and I make more there in two days than I make in a week here,, and left it at that. I mean really, is there even any thought. If they aren't going to get me on full time and driving I guess that will be the end of that. Im going to to talk to the union rep and the boss's, boss's,boss on Monday to see what can be done but really, I worked less hard in the oil field and made over eighty grand a year, their little part time thing can pound sand, I can get a job. Might not pay like their "carrot on a stick" but it is gainful employment.

Just venting. Thanks for listening. It seems nothing is easy.

Your right, the world is so sordid. Tryin to make things easy is harder than going with the flow. I've been trying to make things easy my whole life, constant battle.

Honestly, bosses are always on power trips when it comes to an employee with two jobs. It's always the shitty job that makes the demands. Why can't they just go with the flow and accept the help you can offer? It really is that easy, but nooooo......

Sounds like you're holding all the good cards. I'm trying to make my life simpler because complicated stuff like you're going through just seems to make life too short. Next thing you turn around and time went by so quick being absorbed by illogical situations like this. With retirement on the horizon, I've been seeing things differently.

It was just surreal. My daughter is into cats and has a shirt that reads, "are you kitten me right meow?" That kept going through my head the rest of the day.

I kept thinking, who does this guy think he is talking to? I'm not exactly the college person this job is aimed at. And pushing the issue just leaves them with one less person who shows up on time every day.  And this is a problem from what I can see.

And the yelling. Wow, for what they are paying I really don't think I need all that extra noise. It is real hard for me not to yell back.

If I work three days a week at the laid off job i keep the health insurance benefits, the "part time" does offer any until you get on full time for a year.  Again, no brainer for me without any thought. Just seemed funny that the part time would try to force the issue.

edit:Well, we are going to find out just how adamant the part time people are as I got a call for eight to four on mon and tues. So, if I wont be afforded the ability to leave at 7 i guess that will be the end. We will see.

Well, nothing came of the "decision" today. I asked the direct supervisor if me leaving to get to the other Job was going to be a problem we needed to address it. He said he understood and it wasn't him complaining about it. I guess we will see tomorrow.

Up side I am getting to drive at the other job today . That always beats working on the dock for me. It is just a little pup trailer so I think it a good deal.

All right, this is the last day of driver training at the certain place I got on. If I pass the written today, we have a thirty day training period where the on road supervisor rides with several days and turns you out by yourself several days. Then you are graded and if you meet their expectations you get on full time.

Wish me luck. They already cut about a third of the class that couldn't drive or work the little computer, or both. We are down to the 'nut cuttin'.

Passed the written and the oral recitation portions and left with a certificate. Now I have to do thirty days with no accidents/ injuries and perform in a manner that will have me be efficient and I'm in. I hope I can do it. I really would like to buy a new couch. I'll keep the other place on the back burner and work Saturdays. That way if I have to go back it is still there. And i can make some extra coin with the sat work.

I hope there will be 4.1 build in my future. And a 470 with the long BBC rods on an offset ground crank for the GS. Then some ta heads painted so it can kinda look stock to the uninitiated. Some ported manifolds, the serpentine belt setup and a/c. Yea, I dream big. Then another 2004r so we can power tour and drag week it . It's gonna be SaaaWeeet.

Back to reality and the work to make it happen.
