Makes you wonder where that 13% was before you gave notice, eh?  Employers don't see "it" until good folks start walking.

FWIW, I applied for a new position in Army HQ last week, if it works out I'll be in the chair come mid-Nov - with the promotion that most feel was due two months ago.  It will take everything in my power not to flip off my current Director on the way out.

I don't know. It is funny how easily more money gets onto the table. This place makes money hand over fist so I know they have it to spend. That's why I get kinda butthurt when they expect you to work over and such but when there isn't enough work they are cuttin nuts off.

Probably would have been easier for you if they didn't offer the extra money. Damn now ya gotta re-crunch the numbers

Yeah, we looked at em again this weekend. I just don't see how I can stay and work for the supervisor. I was talking to one of the salesmen that seems to be up on the chatter. He thinks the supervisor is on his way out but it has been a year. I don't see why it is taking them so long but I'm really not wanting to wait any longer.

I told them last day the 13th and the new job starts 14th. Supervisors response was," so we have some time to convince you to stay". That, in a nut shell, is why I like working for him. He is a make it happen. The other guy is a putz.

First, if they offered 13%, they will probably offer 20% to keep you.  But, if you are not happy, then it's time to leave....you can probably come back if things change and the new job is not what you thought it would be.

That is what I'm thinking I guess. I have never gone backwards though. I guess there could be a first time.

Gave my 30 days this morning; "stunned" is the word of the day.

The best line was "...but, we were working on a promotion for you".  Too little, too late - I was eligible on 14 Aug, and you knew that.  The new job comes with the same promotion and the flexibility to work from home to support the kids.

That is the truth. I've even not been looking and had them emailing me to come down and talk to them.

I'm on day three of the new gig. 27 more days and I can call myself a teamster. Might have a goofed up schedule for a while but the insurance is off the chain.

I quit my job today.

Well technically I quit a few weeks ago when I gave notice, today I formally accepted my new offer/position and publicly dropped the bomb. We managed to keep it pretty low key until I sorted out the details.

The good news is that I am leaving behind a lot of nonsense and some seriously ignorant people for new opportunties and increased responsibiliti es, and some degree of recognition; while remaining with the Army. The bad news is that there are some incredible people who remain behind that I will no longer work with on a regular basis.

The only opportunities in life are the ones you make for yourself, or your spouse shoves you toward.

So, crazy isn't the word for it. I was going good at the new gig and then, myself and about twenty others got laid off. Yes, I know what you are thinking , why would they hire people then lay them off. I'm not sure. But I'm not one to sit around and wonder what happened. I followed up on a lead for a seasonal position at a parcel company that has brown vehicles and have been on there since thanksgiving week. I've done that during the week and worked on the dock at the place that laid off on the weekends. Actually getting more hrs but don't have health insurance so I'm mot sure what we will do about that. Exploring options.

Big deal was that I guess I did well enough at the brown parcel place the supervisor recommended I be asked back after the seasonal ends in Jan. This was great news and hopefully I'll get on full time. I was getting to drive was they referred to as a bulk van. It is a 24' bobtail. The last few days has been a package car, which is the vehicle mote commonly thought of when thinking of this company and have been delivering mostly residential packages. I like the commercial and industrial stuff better by try it all pays the same.

Either way I hope everyone has a great holiday season and a happy new year.
