Great work.  Making me feel bad about my lack of project progress.  But, I prefer baby cuddles to wrenchin'... odd... I know.

I like that stuff too but with 2 teenagers, I'll cuddle with jeep right now.  Sure does make me hopeful for some grand babies in the future

Had a beautiful afternoon so I washed GG and the Wagoneer. Need to come up with a name for it... Anyway, cleaned up and painted the grill guard that I got from Charlie and it fit like a glove. Also installed the receiver hitch from the parts jeep. Seat belts still haven't been delivered, so I managed to piece one set for the driver. I'm hoping to get an inspection and registration this week so I can start road testing.

Got the inspection and registration today.  I ran out of qualifying military plates, so I went with a farm truck plate.  Drove me and the wife around this afternoon and she was taken back to her childhood. Her grandpa always had one of these wagoneers at his place in the foothills of the Rockies in New Mexico.  Anyway, I think she likes it.  Going to give it a good test and drive it to work tomorrow. Thanks for all the kind words during this mini restoration/overhaul.  Now back to the barn motor!

Looks great! I'd put some small mudflaps on it to protect the paint...just my 2 cents. :)

Glad the parts work for you Jason. When you decide to get rid of the AMC engine and go GM, remember I've got everything but the motor mounts for you.

The original design came out in 1962 from Buick and advertised as the Fireball.   It was sold to jeep in 1967.  Energy crisis in the 70's led to the buy back from AMC in 1977.

It was actually bought back in 74 and the bore increased to 3.8". Because of vibration issues related to the original odd fire design it was revamped late 76 early 77 and made into an even fire design. First even fire was used in 77.5 model year and the heads were redesigned in early/mid 78 and the high port dead design was used first in 79. Further change in the heads (stage I design) came from bridging the water passages on the ends of the heads, and to hopefully solve some oiling issues, the block was re-designed in late 84 (85 block) and again in 85 (109 casting).

Nice job!  Always cool when you see an older vehicle on the road.
