I was lucky enough to catch the GNX sale at auction right before dinner.  Velocity has coverage of the event. I was completely in awe as it 100k. Then I made them wait for me for dinner so I could see how much it went for. My question is who was the seller?

Gets the price up but I don't know about ruining the hobby. If you don't have the budget, plenty of regular g bodies out there to build. I think it creates excitement. I don't know how many times I've been asked about my GnX. Cutlass, Monte Carlo, it doesn't bother me. I know what it is.

My concern is with accessibility to the lesser models as this crap drives prices up across the board, and how it takes the hobby further and further out of reach of "blue collar" folks in the process.

The worst part is most of the most coveted cars are dogs by modern standards.

That does seem a bit excessive.  It would make a nice sleeper.

and both of them are a waste of money.

It is funny that the tech makes the new stuff better in just about every way, just like the tr was better than the 60s stuff, that was better than the 50s stuff. But you can not get the cool factor of doing it yourself from a new one. I know that my GS is better to me because I put the engine and suspension together. But the regal is catching up as now I've done the suspension and trans. It is older now than my GS was when I bought it. I like both, and got into them when I could afford them . There will always be affordable transportation . If not the car companies wouldn't sell as many and another would step up and build one. Look at the road runner, the LX 5.0 Mustangs,  I'm sure there is something being produced now that fits that idea of budget performance.

That is why the flathead stuff is still cool, the old stuff is cool because it isn't seen everyday. Most of it is built by gear heads. The average office guy just doesn't have the skillz.

True.

But, I still want a Hellcat... because I cannot build the same power and reliability and comfort in my garage.  But, the wagon will definitely be fun.

I'm not knocking buying as I did just that buying the Regal to get out of wrenching on the GS to get it rolling for work. Just seemed easier back then and I was single. Now I just have the wife drop me off if I don't get it back together.

Liking the hellcat, just can't see dropping $70k on one. They need a road runner/Super B model for us married shlubs.

I tell you that I would personally prefer to have both if I am financially able.  I would like nothing more than to roll up in my old school limited and spank some ass.  Then get back home and take the wife out in a 2017 GN, if it ever actually comes to fruition....
