I need to do that to my S10 Blazer.   Damn heater core is right behind the radio and has a constant supply of hot coolant.

Exactly what I was thinking. Many years ago L Conley had a write up in GS Extra about a Quick Cool Down method for track days. It was basically remove thermostat, hook a garden hose size Plastic Tee to cut upper hose, add some heater hose with ball valve on the end that exits the hot water/steam under the frame. After a pass or two with the Engine at Idle, open ball valve, steam shoots out, remove rad cap & pour in cool water & the engine instantly cools down. Fill rad & as water cools down close Ball valve & top up rad. I did it a few times & it worked well but the engine better be running!! Man people used to look from a distance & scratch their heads!!   :O

My home made Up Pipe Cool Box made of Copper looked a damn Still but at least I was creative! Still have that copper bundle in my shop!

Sounds pretty much like the Prestone flush fittings they used to ship with antifreeze?

Ya more or less but the 1/2 turn ball fitting was a few $$ more.  :)
The Cold Box had Tech guys ask a lot of questions at Cayuga but London they just asked if I had a helmet & good to go! Those were Fun times back in 90-92 & that's when Paul Beal (twin 86 GN's) was out with his Dad.

If I was in charge there would only be ball valves

and military connectors

That was probably a post office vehicle...most of the post offices around here use private vehicles to deliver the mail.

EDIT:  In regards to the pic on page 2 with the two steering wheels.
