Oil return line
« on: January 20 2015, 02:40:24 PM »
So while re installing my return line in the new bock I cracked it.... Glad I found it before I installed the motor.

Here are a list of parts I ordered From Russell to make a new line I know there are other vendors and probably cheaper ways but in Canada with freight and duty to deal with I can do this overnight for $80.00 Canadian.

http://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/rus-697090 Will not work

Used Vibrant part# 2849

Looking forward to pix. I had a really nice and generous individual that sent me a stock one out of the goodness of their heart. I thought it only right to use it. I hope yours turns out well. I also have a braided flex piece with male threads on each end I bought somewhere along the way. Not sure how it hooks to the turbo. But I think it screws into the block. But it is straight so I'm not sure how it would work. Funny how things are bought/sold with no way they would work without major mods or fab.

Exactly why I stay with stock junk. It was engineered to fit.

Thanks Brad from what I have researched -10 is biggest concern after that is to maintain as straight a shot with no 90 degree bends or low spots for oil to collect

So finally got it all together made a couple changes, decided a -10AN to 1/2 NPT 45 degree fitting at the block with a straight hose end would fit better.

Worked well good slope and looks clean.

So parts used.
Vibrant # 2849 turbo drain adapter
Russell fittings
660973 -10AN to 1/2 NPT 45degree
610043 straight -10AN hose end
610113 45 degree -10 AN hose end
3" of hose

If you can take a couple bit better pics so the orientation is more clear, I would put this on my site...might help someone else down the road.  Looks really nice

Thanks for the compliment Steve, figured I would listed the parts and maybe save some one some time down the road.

I know a search has saved me buying things I couldn't use or didn't fit.

Larry, above you said a 45 deg fitting into the block...but, it looks straight to me in the last pictures.  I see a 45 deg fitting at the turbo end

In your parts list, you show two 45's

Is it just the camera angle that makes it look straight at the block?

Part of the problem is the color and the angle black in black.

This is threaded into the block its clocked to around 10.5 oclock Russell 660973

I found the straight fitting and 45 hose end moved the line out to far with not as much slope.

This was attached to this fitting 610043

the hose than 610113

I attached this to the turbo Vibrant 2849

No gasket was provided but I have faith the right stuff is the right stuff to use that was my thread sealant at the block as well.

I was careful to ensure everything had slope so oil will not collect, my turbo is a BB unit with a feed restricter over all I'm happy with the install.
