Since I致e had some downtime I致e done some more research on using a flex fuel enabled tune on a stock pcm. And my findings are similar with my friends - while possible, right now I知 just going to sit buy and watch. I could gamble and license the sloppy mechanics p01 flexfuel tune and flash it to my pcm, but there are enough minor issues that it become a major pain in the ass. From what we can find it takes at least 3 software packages to flex fuel enable my pcm without these issues. There is one tuner that has figured out how to do it in a hex editor, but he値l only do it if he tunes your car - which is understandable .
So for now, I知 going to put together a Arduino powered ethanol content measuring system. Looks like for under $40, I can get the info from the flex fuel sensor and display and/or send it to the logger. The idea will be base tune, then setup a tune for various content levels, like every 5%. All the files will be the same execept for the stoich afr. It値l be a fill it up, drive, and if it varies 5% reflash. It値l be a pain, but worth it to run E.
I知 99% sure my boost controller is Arduino powered as well. So if I get bored I might be able to combine the units and add other inputs. That could open up some interesting stuff.
On the other hand my back feels like someone drove s splitting wedge in my spine. But I知 pretty good otherwise. I値l be happy to touch my toes again.
