I need to check and see if the trans lines are -6 or -8. There is only enough line to mount the transcooler under the passenger side floor. It’s a nice derale dual core with a ten inch fan. It’ll all work if I send the exhaust out the fender - but I’m pretty sure I want full exhaust. I’ve got enough -6 laying around to put the cooler up front or out back. Fender exit exhaust makes everything easier - but it also screems race car.
The trans is tapped for 1/8 npt on the vent - so I’m probably going to grab an overflow tank that bolts to the pan rail. Need to decide and get one coming as once it’s in the car good luck getting to it.
Trans has an sfi bell but no shield. I’m pretty sure he said it had an aluminum drum with a clean neutral. I don’t think a steel/aluminum shield will clear the floor - So that leaves me with a blanket so I’m still looking at options. I’ll probably just send it.
Need to order gears too!
This is a whole lot of work for a 12 second slug... :P

Depends on how many problems I’ve created for myself. Still got a ways to go. I’d like to dial it in this summer and lean on it a little this fall.

So - I got some stuff done today. Trans is installed, driveshaft is in. Still needs the shifter, cooler + lines, torque converter bolts, dipstick and fluid before I can test it.

Torque converter bolts are in - what a pain in the ass. LS1 flywheel to sbc torque converter makes it so you have 1 spot that you to feed the bolt thru the flex plate into the converter. They included 4 shims with the bolts each .020 thick the first one went smooth but the other 2 fought all the way. Using the resources I had, a nylon rope was sacrificed. I used strains from the rope rope to tie the shims/washers together. It's done but I was struggling today.

Driveshaft seems short, but I have almost 1-1/4" slip. With the yoke in the trans, there is some play, I know my other one did too. I think its one of those things that always bothers me, I cringe look away and forget about it.  I'm just hoping it doesn't have any driveline vibrations.

Am I overthinking this? Or is this about 1” to short?
3.5” yoke - hanging almost 2.5” out of the trans?
I don’t think it’s in far enough to hit the bushing and feels loose. I smoke a lot of weed but I don’t think this will work.....am I wrong?

I need to measure but I can go with a longer yoke on the 9” that would gain me that 1”.

Jeremy, I always aimed for the yoke to be about 1" from bottoming out in the tailshaft when measuring the driveshaft at ride height.  I have seen a few that were closer to 1.5"

My GN isn't my DD...so when I get it done...then I get it done...no rush. I Crazy glue the shims for my convertor together...mak es life easy.

for the yoke to be about 1" from bottoming out in the tailshaft when measuring the driveshaft at ride height.
I will add my .02 cents, without charge.
Measuring as Steve Woods, I see 3/4" as perfect. Even with solid bushed suspension mounting. As close as possible works.

I would add, the converter has to turn free before I want it bolted to the flex plate. For me, verified clearance even with shims.
Just my opinions.
