Brad - 80s were as big as I could get when I bought them, next set will be some Bosch 210s, I'm gonna wait for Black Friday. The fuel system is set other than that should be able to fuel 1000rwhp to the tires on E85 with the lines/pumps. The transmission is a stout unit and should be good now that it's not leaking.
 
Steve - just costs cubic money. Coyote is awesome, but it's expensive, massive, and I'm not a fan of 4ft timing chains. Not to mention it's got a slipper clutch in it so he's always under the thing playing with it.

Hey, then I guess you would not like the 427 "Sock" engine with the 6 ft chain  :cheers:  I have enuf problems with the single accessory drive belts of today  :icon_lol:

Pretty sure Brad was saying to buy once cry once - rather than incremental upgrades.

I missed a chance to buy a Thunderbolt with a fresh 427 back around 2000.  I was trying to convince one of my Ford friends to buy it but he thought 3k was too much.  I should have jumped all over that one.  It was in several pieces and needed some assembly but it was in really good condition. It was a real race car.

99% sure it's the ethanol content sensor itself that is bad. Even at idle the signal occasionally bounces, and if I tap on the sensor body (aka MAF tap)  I can get it to go from high error/low error and back to reading alcohol content.

Well, flex fuel is fixed - I had 2 damaged pins on the sensor side. I must have mangled them when I was testing the harness.

Fixed up the exhaust yesterday. The last 18” or so was just held on by a band clamp. I changed it up to a vband so I don’t have to worry about it getting ejected onto the track again. I was able to straighten up the trim ring and I put some thin sheet metal on the other side of the bumper to give the rivets something to grab instead of just plastic.
This weldpro mig welds super nice, and I’m still using flux lol. I’ve got a bottle of gas and wire, I just figured I’d use up the flux it came with first and haven’t been disappointed.

Went to the track today 5 passes. New PB 9.90@136.9 1.366 60ft nearly 110 in the 1/8th! I put 1.5* of timing in it so 15* and left the boost at 14. Last pass I added another degree of timing and bumped the 2 step to 4400 from 4000 - didn’t work out just spun.
No video my dad isn’t qualified to operate a camera lol

Looks like all the hassle you went thru to get there is worth it.  Looks like 9.8's are in your future with the right conditions.  Shame winter is coming soon.

Better Go Pro that thing and give your Dad some pom poms LOL

I need to look at the fuel table and do some calculations - if I drop the alcohol content to 55-60% I can get some overhead back on the injectors, and maybe put some boost to it.
We have one more Test n tune this next Saturday. I'm up in the air, yesterday was way too busy - I hate waiting in the staging lanes for 45 minutes before a run. The car was definitely not cool by the time I got to the burnout box.
My dads good friend had his early 70s mustang out. 557 high compression, big dollar 30k type engine, ran 9.7x@138. Just to rub it in I told him my turbo was only $400.

Here is the boost plot from the 9.90 pass - yellow/green line is boost, white line is rpm, red is speed
leave on 10psi, 12-12.5psi in 1st, 13psi in 2nd, and 13.5psi creeping to 14psi at the very end. It does spike a little on the shift but it's safe to say there is a whole lot left in it.
