The Tillotson TCT looks pretty sweet.
https://www.gopowersports.com/tillotson-tct-mechanical-fuel-injection-tf-8a-6c/
Right now the engine doesn't have an air filter or the housing for one and appears to have been run that way for some time. $25 for a piece of plastic, a filter, and a nut make the Predator look even better. The swap would require a new clutch since the Predator has a 3/4" shaft vs the Tecumseh 5/8". So in my mind, if it needs a clutch it gets a Predator 212

Better yet, a torque converter 👍 just put a throttle limiter on for the boys

Jeremy, Honda made an Odysee back in the day. I rented one for a couple of hours at an outdoor facility. I think it was automatic and had a 350cc engine. Was lots of fun but need better suspension. I raced one of these CR250R's at an outdoor fair grounds in the winter months when I was in my early 20's. Fast and as dangerous as fuck.

I remember all those. My Dad was a service manager at the local Honda dealer in the 80s. Sometimes I'd go to work with him on Saturdays and I'd get to sit on all the new machines and occasionally he'd have to "test ride" something and he'd take me along.

I saw an Odyssey on FB Marketplace not so long ago.
I am getting a Taylor Bros Talon unless something falls thru. I think the engine still runs okay, and I have a 212 Predator that I have never opened the box on. I wanted springs on all four corners because it is so rough here.

Several towns here in Ontario allow ATV's on the streets as long as the person driving is licensed, insured and has a plate on it. If it ever happened in my town I'd be looking for a Honda Odysee...if I could find one.

After I test it out to make sure it's safe and to see how fast it goes, my ass probably won't ride in it. It'll be way too bumpy for me, my body just won't take it.

Roger that....those no suspension ones need a smooth surface for sure...but even the ones with spring corners are rough off road as the videos show. Be sure the brakes work well. The one I am buying has hydraulic brakes but they need to be finished and bled.... It needs lot of things !
When I was looking, I found I could buy a VW powered sand rail for less than some wanted for their go karts. Hard to believe what some will pay for something and how quickly they become disillusioned

I got stupid years ago and put a 5HP Briggs in a mini bike. It was fast enough I ran out of room on my street to get it up to full speed. Depending on the sprocket size and condition of the centrifugal clutch, that thing will fly with a 6.5 in it.

You know the part where I said "unless something falls thru"? My nephew fiddle farted around and did not go pay the guy in a timely manner? Someone else showed up with cash and took it away. I'm on the look again.

Made some progress on the cart today.
Found that the frame has a couple of cracked welds - so I'll need to take care of those before we go further.
The crankshaft thread was damaged and there wasn't anything holding the clutch on, it was just floating. So I re-tapped the crankshaft and stuck a 5/16-18 bolt in it. The lash on the valves was around 0.025 so I reset them to .008/.010 ish. The chain is soaking in ATF, I still need to look it over real good.
The boys got all the bird poop off the seat - they were bummed that they couldn't go rip it around today.

Jeremy, you can use you chain wax when you get it cleaned up. It won't fly off like oil and make a mess. Use it on my bikes...works real nice. How's the centrifugal clutch?

I got the frame welded and everything back together. Everything is good except the brakes. 28mph with me and my 10-year-old in it, it rips pretty good.

Yes it does! Bet he was on top of the world! Setting the valves can really be noticed at times.

I took it apart to look at the brake and the wheel bearings fell apart. Thankfully they are cheap.
The front kingpin bolts are just 1/2-20 standard bolts. So the spindle is snug at the top and loose at the bottom where it's located on the bolt threads rather than the shank like the top. The bolt threads are beats, and to prevent it again, I ordered some AN8 bolts in the correct length to correct the problem.
