Moser Axles-When?

At what short time is it good to go with Moser axles? I normally pull low 1.6's...is it time?

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

Do you have a girdle?  What does your car weigh?  My car weighs in at 4050lb with me in it.  I pulled a 1.61 60ft three times then snapped the axle on the next pass and this was still with the stock converter, unopen motor with only a TE-44.  I upgraded to 30 spline, but if I were you play it safe and get some better axles.

Moser girdle...Aubur n Pro Series Posi. Never weighed the car...but it's a T Top power everything with the following weight reduction: Air con delete,,,but retains the heater box...RJC lower race pulley...9.5" NL convertor...al uminum driveshaft...a luminum rear drums...sound deadener removed...LT1 starter...F Body rad conversion...a luminum front and rear bumper inners...and the driver weighs 170...the oil cooler lines and adaptor were tossed in Lake Ontario...the IC fan is used as a Frisbee at the shop...someone please do the math.

Are you good at body work? Have you seen what a broke axle does to a quarter panel as it exits the housing?

Put em in. Just not worth the hassle of breaking one to find their limits.

That does not happen when you weld ford axle tube ends on the housing

Or when you convert to disk brakes...

You have a TR that weighs 4050 with you in it?

That is not all that unusual.

The reason it weighs so much is because of all the extras I have in it.  I told my buddy who own's a Stage II car, how much it weighed and he said, "No way!"  Then I opened my trunk for him and he then said,  "Yeah, possibly."  Car weighed 3800lbs when I put it on the scale.  I have T-Tops, the concert sound system with 10 after market speakers, 4 subs, 5 amps, and an electronic crossover, 10 disc exchanger.  Car also has carpeted trunk kit.  And when I race I couldn't be bothered with removing anything, not even the spare.
