Do you have a girdle?  What does your car weigh?  My car weighs in at 4050lb with me in it.  I pulled a 1.61 60ft three times then snapped the axle on the next pass and this was still with the stock converter, unopen motor with only a TE-44.  I upgraded to 30 spline, but if I were you play it safe and get some better axles.


You have a TR that weighs 4050 with you in it?

The reason it weighs so much is because of all the extras I have in it.  I told my buddy who own's a Stage II car, how much it weighed and he said, "No way!"  Then I opened my trunk for him and he then said,  "Yeah, possibly."  Car weighed 3800lbs when I put it on the scale.  I have T-Tops, the concert sound system with 10 after market speakers, 4 subs, 5 amps, and an electronic crossover, 10 disc exchanger.  Car also has carpeted trunk kit.  And when I race I couldn't be bothered with removing anything, not even the spare.


Gotcha...I knew there had to be something to it lol

Find a T Top Limited and put a 2225lb driver in it and you can top 4000 lbs without the cross overs...

3800 lb stock Regals with a healthy driver are not as common as one might think

I may have missed this in the post but do you still run c-clips? They make me a bit nervous in my car.

My GN was a non G80 equipped car. I went with an Eaton posi and Moser 30 spline c clip axles. My guy that did the rear for me advised me to use c clip axles for a mainly street driven car. He told me the Ford ends are great if you do a lot of racing, but can leak. He said if I decide to do more racing in the future, they can always be upgraded or installed at a later time.

and the ball bearing bearings used on some of the kits will not only leak, but the ball bearings will not take nearly the abuse of a roller bearing on the street and usually fail after not too many miles

the moser bearings are round  balls and they will pound the race
they also require splitting to remove
also the moser is a sealed bearing and has its own grease , get them hot and the seal pops and the grease leaves the bearing out the drum side ,  then you have grease on the brakes and drum ...absolute junk and did i mention they need to be split to remove and nothing is reusable , you have to cut the main alum  housing, then cut through the outer race then carefully slit the inner race avoiding hitting the axle  and split it to break the interference fit
then its  time for a new one which now they offer in singles at around 90each 

the better choice is the strange circletrack eliminators which require strange axles due to the fact that there is a  seal on the eliminator that mates with their axle end
