Which Exhaust ?

Had the car on the lift to install a new set of MT Drag Radials, and I realized my one muffler shit the bed... Exhaust system is aftermarket but has been on the car for the past 20 years. Car only has 14K on the clock.

I did my research and it looks like the Pypes, 2.5" cat back system with the Race Pro mufflers is a good value for the money for a complete bolt on system.

Is there any other system that is cat back, bolt on, 2.5", that I should look at before I pull the trigger on this Pypes system?  I don't want a loud exhaust...

the Pypes is the best bang for the money.  They have about three different mufflers.  You can go to their site and listen.  Turbo cars are always quieter than regular cars

Steve~  I talked to the guy at Pypes that designed the system, at least that's what he told me...  He recommended the Race Pro muffler as it's the only "straight through" design of the three.  I don't want a chamber type muffler, on the GN.  Flowmasters are good on the BB Camaro, but not so on the turbo car.  I want to hear the turbo spool.

Not sure I agree that completely :D  I hate FloMasters totally and think they are too restrictive for a serious car-of course, take it with a grain of salt because I have Walker Race Bullets on my 440....

I'd suggest stainless as it will out live the car... your 20 year old system was probably made out of mild steel which is why it rotted out.

I was looking at the 409 stainless system that Kirban sells.  I don't like the stainless tips, but I can always pain them black.

I overlooked the RJC because I was after a 2.5"... Now I need to take a closer look.
The 304 is certainly better quality than the 409.  I'll give Jason a ring and pick his brain.

Not to many. Glad I had a lift. The pipe that goes from the cat back had to be trimmed to fit, had to cut about 2 inches off one side and 1 inch off other. Also the flange is pretty thick at the cat and kinda hard to get nuts started. Also the tail pipes mount solidly to the frame. They dont supply the bolts but they do supply the poly bushings. The holes in the frame you use are just out of finger reach so thats a challenge.
 
I do like the sound but a but "droney" at 60 mph. I know Flowmaster's are no good for performance on these cars but I did like that sound much better.

I have a lift, so I'm good there.  So much for a bolt on system if you had to cut the pipes???
In the pictures I've seen of the Pypes installed, it looks like the tailpipes hang down a bit under the body.  My current tailpipes are 1" below the body.  Are your more than that?

Did the Pypes system exist 20 years ago?   I was thinking the GN kit was a fairly recent thing from them.
