first drive of the season
« on: August 31 2013, 08:09:27 PM »
I finally got the car out for a real drive for the first time of the season in 4 years.    It was pretty sweet finally having a bunch of bs stuff that didn't work actually work.   It was nice having a gas gauge, and a trip meter, and a rad that wasn't half plugged and to have electric fans that actually turned on, on their own.  The car used to run around 205 before and now is about 168-170 on a cool day like today.

It was good for for a nice cruise in it but I found a bunch of stuff that I will have to deal with next spring.  I need to finally complete all the repairs on the spring cleaning.   I plan on replacing the original timing chain and gears, and valve springs and original injectors next spring and then hopefully then I can actually start to play with it.   I'm just glad I could drive it around.   I guess now for the next bunch of stuff to save up for.   I can't decide what eats money faster, my house or my cars.

Nice!

I've only had my Buick out a handful of times this season. :(

Your wife, maybe?

It's a great feeling to actually drive one now and then!  Makes me want to get the Challenger off the rack and drive up to the gate and back!

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

no wife, but at least when you can drive it around, it's easier to explain to the gf why, you are spending a small fortune on it.
