«

Just bought a set of HS 1.65's for my stock, fully ported, and clearanced , heads...tech guy at HS said he's 90% sure they will clear v/cover
hmm...90%,does that mean it will only break 10% of my new rockers?

I'm 99% sure you won't even be able to bolt down the valve covers.
It's not a matter of breaking rockers, it's that the roller rockers are taller than stock rockers and need more room.
The fix is either taller valve covers or valve cover spacers.

Im 100% sure they wont clear
youll need valve cover spacers , RJC ...or ebay has them cheaper
and even with the spacer , if you glue them to head you might even need to run a thick VC gasket

Won't fit! Spacers if done right won't leak, my spacers don't leak.

Just musing out loud- Would two piece valve covers, where the lid is just a flat lid be useful on our cars?

That is actually a good idea. A two piece where you can seal the bottom and have like an insert slide into the bottom half would be awesome.

Pretty sure there are two piece valve covers available for some cars. Makes it easy to check valves and such without spilling oil all over the place. I think the tops are o-ringed. then you could use spacers on top for additional clearance if required.
Bottoms should be o-ringed as well for a good seal.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

Yes, you are right Steve. The top unscrews and the side skirts stay and the rest stay mounted. I remember M/T had them for small block Chevy's
