Worn out shaft seals leak vacuum and boost. Drivability and performance can suffer as a result. If your seals are shot your turbo is having to make X plus Y amount of boost to get X amount of boost into the cylinders. 1 psi is 10 degrees added to the air charge temp. Depending on what you have done on your car, every 10 degrees of charge temp can cost you 10 HP. The vacuum leaks will cause too rich of a fuel mixture. Shaft seals are good for 7 to 10 years under good conditions.
As for increased throttle body bore size, it allows more air into the motor. Turbo Buicks come with a 57mm TB. I do this work for other makes and none that are as small as our TBs that come on boosted engines. Personally, I don't think my car ran any quicker times with a bored TB but it was a lot more fun to drive with the TB upgraded. Anyone not wanting their TB bored out I can also do a TB rebuild for them.

I remember reading about you being the man on one of the other boards!!
My car is completely stock(aside from a couple of things not making it stock) and have been refreshing a lot on it these days. How long of a turnaround is it for this service?

Depends. If you have to have your original plenum returned it would need to be here two days. If not I can often do a same day turn around. If the parts are powder coated are you plan to have them done, it gets more complicated. Aluminum castings don't machine well if they've been through the P/C bake process. I'd need to do the machining, send them back then you can get them coated and send the throttle body back here for the seals, throttle plate and assembly. Price would be the same but involve a 2nd shipping charge. Details are at
