Cam Sensor
« on: March 19 2013, 09:22:14 AM »
How freely should a new cam sensor turn when not in the engine?  Should it free spin easily or should it have a slight drag to it?  I ask because my new one turns fine, but is much tighter than the old one and doesn't free spin.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

Okay, that makes me feel better.  I wrestled with it a little bit to get it to seat properly and couldn't remember if it was spinning like that when I started.  I finally got it to drop down like it is supposed to.  Thanks for all the help a few months ago with my new car.  I have had the engine block and heads checked and freshened up at a local machine shop with new forged pistons (All of the old ones had wrist pin play).  Then I had a local turbo buick guy assemble everything.  He posted this thread on it:

Some cam sensors can be a real whore to seat in...had my fair share. Make sure the engine is well primed before you twist the key...and follow proper cam break in procedures.
