Not really. Not for stock. I assume you can get higher, slightly more accurate torque (for the purists)

Really that is a new one to me.

The only reason I knew was because way back before the ratchet they used breaker bars at they are called today. 12 point were much easier to make contact and turn with the equipment of the day.

As for contact area it is the same.

Now a days when they are use it is usually because it is in a location that is hard to get a start on which equates back to the breaker bar days.

the six point is harder to round off, but, it can be a lot easier to get a wrench on a 12 pt in many cases.....I think it is easier to round a 12 pt, but, maybe that is cause I like to use cheater pipes?   :)

Seems like some of the 12 pts are also a bit smaller in diameter, but, that may be my imagination

The contact area is the same on them, rounding happens to the same amount on both.

theory says that is true IF one has a really good quality wrench.  The Net is full of guys that apparently don't have that quality of wrench

I keep forgetting about all the china stuff that is out there.

Not to say that some of their manufacture is good when QC is done.

they often work on the theory that quality is based upon what is inspected rather than expected.  They have the tools, for sure

Indeed, we have some exposure here.  It is an ingrained cultural thing, its YOUR job to prove what I sell you isn't good enough.

I believe the lighter 12pt heads are a little more dramatic on connection rods :) ...

....but then again it takes 16oz to make a pound!

I have 2 sets of each (by accident) for iron heads & aluminum heads. The 12 points are lighter but they "appear" to have no meat on them & I would prefer the 6 point myself.
if anyone wants a set of 12 point for either heads I'll give you a good deal!  :atbeer:

Studs I'll bring them on the 16th if you want to see them?
I showed them to another member & he was surprised how little meat seems to be on the nut compared to my 6 point but they are selling lots from what I can tell? That's what you get unless you specify the 6 point.
