They are another point of failure, and even when working, are pretty useless. They come from the factory to reduce fuel pump noise - no need to keep it.

It'll be obvious when you get in there.

On that car it would hold fuel pressure for about 20 seconds; with the pulsator gone it would hold pressure overnight.  I also had to back off on the FPR and pull some WOT fuel just from tossing the pulsator.

While you're in there closely inspect the ground lug for the pump, the ground tab for the harness and make sure that tube that carries the ground has a strong solder connection where it passes through the mounting plate.
If any of those are loose you need to break out the torch and soldier.

Thanks!  My next question has been answered as I was going to ask if there is anything I should check for while it's down.  Let you all know when it's finished!!

Helping Phil swap out this fuel pump.  He had a Walbro 307 in the tank.  The fuel sock was dirty.  Also, the pulsator was already removed.  We about to re-install.

It's a fairly new tank, and most of the trash that we seen was already clogging the old fuel sock. :D

Is there any reason that a walbro 307 was in there oppose to the 340?  What's the reviews on the 307?

it was what walbro sold before the 340 came out....if you bought one in the 80s or early 90's, that was what you got.  340 supposedly had a more efficient motor and a higher bypass pressure

Got everything installed.  After the pump change, the static FP increased to about 48 lbs.  He had it set to 42 lbs.  We took the car for a spin.  He floored it for a short pull.  02's where in the high 8's(842-850).  No knock though.  Got some more adjusting to do but so far he happy.
