Please to take many many photos of the astroroof refurbishment process kind aeronautical sir.
I have done a handful of seal replacements.
what do you want to know?
things off top my head....
the entire assembly pan is coming out, no way around it.
cleaning off all the old glue is essential. if its all dried up, its a pita. use plastic scraper and isopropyl to help loosen it. if the glue is still soft, soak it with isopropyl alcolhol first, then you can take a really really long 1/8" drill bit (like about 12" long) and put it in a drill and lay it flat and it'll pull it up like magik. (seriously, and its kinda fun to watch.
heat the seal up with a heat gun before installing and it it will have a little more give when stretching it around the frame.
while the whle assembly is out, is a good time to inspect for rust in the corners. sand, primer and paint or por it.
I've seen low milage garage queens with mega rust in the corners.
each corner has a drain hose, but with the design of the pan, the water isn't exactly motivated to go out the drains. it can sit in spots for long long time before airing out. especially if the car is washed then pulled into the garage and sits. I always open my astroroof after a wash or rain and make sure it gets air circulating so it all dries up out. even if I gotta point a fan at it.
removing and installing is a 2 man job. but I have removed and installed all by my lonesome before. it'd probably be pretty funny to videotape it.
I just remove the console and lay on my back on the hump, put both feet up at each rear corner to support it. one hand at one front corner for support there, and unbolt the last 2 center 10mm nuts and it drops. I usually remove the steering wheel if I'm doing it by myself just to be on the safe side
