don't know what springs you have so we cannot really answer that....If they are single springs, or single with a damper, they are probably okay.  If they are dual springs, then I would not use them.

Single chain, not a dual roller.  New tensioner and button, I would say

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

if you are going to continue to throw parts at your problem pick a vendor that is used to building motors or supplies those that do...

This was my train of thought - minus the "nice guy" part.

A number of years ago,  those companies that made lifters in this country, stopped.  Johnson was considered to be the best built lifter by many when it came to durability and quietness.

That is when we started seeing all the failures on mild cam installs.  Damn imported lifters were so soft on the bottom that it made failure easy on new cam installs...giv en the mislocated lifter bore on 3E, it is particularly easy to F one up on a Buick.  It is not a question of zinc in the oil during the install or later...it is simply a case of sorry lifters.

Last year, I read that Johnson had started making them again.  I think one other company may have as well altho the name slips my mind.

I suggested TA purely because they are advertising Johnson lifters with hardened bases.  I don't know whom else may be selling an American made lifter, but, TA advertises the supplier.  I would gladly pay three times the price for a decent lifter rather than take the chance that I would soon be doing it again... :)

I remember someone posting that AZ is still selling the flat tappet lifters with the hardened base on it so you can still get them but you've got to look for them. :(
And remember, when dealing with children, silence may be golden but duct tape is silver.
