I can't seem to get all of 'em to come up. The one on my previous post is for the 5857...which supercedes the 44 and 49.

it works, but way out of the range for what he needs....

the TE34, a 44, or 49, and probably the 5831 above would all fit his needs and combo. I would rather pay 400$ for a good 44 or 49 than pay for a rebuild on the original

okay, I see it...and also a 5831 billet for $649....I guess that is a billet wheel replacement for the 44?   Might be a good one as well. 

I'm still using Patricks chart on the other board. He left Precision...so I'm pretty much lost on the new ones coming out. I'm not sure what the 5831 supercedes. Prolly best to call Mike and ask.

a search says it is a modern 44 or 49

Problem is that many of these modern turbos don't run any better than the old ones but they get a higher price tag

Agreed...but sooner or later the 44 and 49 won't be produced. I'm trying to keep up with the new turbos...as the old ones are going the way of the dinosaur.

who cares if we have one that works and it is not available...it's all about the money as far as I am concerned.  I have a hard time telling someone to spend money on something that does no more for performance than something else that costs significantly less

checked the for sale areas on the turbo buick sites, didnt find any. Wheres some good places to keep my eye on for the garret 44, I think thats what I'd like to get

Might try Mike at Full throttle and see what he has.....or what he knows....other wise post a wtb ad on tb and see what pops up

Was hopeing to put this off til next summer but the leak must be worse than I thought. Had it all cleaned up and drove about 200 miles and wiped my hand under where turbo and intercooler connect and its all oily again :(  I cant believe it can push it out that hose, its super tight?

must not be super tight :)

Once those hoses get oily, it takes some effort to get the oil off the hose well enuf to grip.

Check the turbo outlet and see if it is oily (inside of the outlet)
