Shows why the Denso and similar may need a larger return line at low pressure as well as why larger pumps may need larger on both sides.

Denso is a current hog.

At the bottom, see the calculated hp levels for forced aspiration cars for each pump.  Seems to fall right in with our discussions as to when a 340 is not enuf.

I am putting a standard Walbro 340 pump in my Monte with the understanding that 500hp is the safe ceiling on gas alone and I am okay with that.

I run a smaller Bosch pump as the alky (E85) pump in my Buick without issue.

The 044 is an external inline pump. Working as suction you will have issues that need to be addressed. I would only use a pro type pump as a external.

I'm glad he's driving the car and not me. I rather know the pump in my tank was designed to be sitting in 18 gal's of gas.

i have an extra tank/scrap metal that i might try this on.
Also i had an old tank with 3 JB weld repairs on it --two on the bottom and one on top and never any problems and it was in service for over 7 years.

i think i read some where that the 044 could be used either way ??.
i would definitively get a definitive answer on that before i would do it.

If it was the manufacture would state it in the instructions as with other pumps that are.  If I see a smoke plume from my window I know you didn't listen.

I ask a lot of questions as i am trying not to stay dumb for ever. That doesn't mean that i am on my way to the parts store to buy something.
By the time i am done researching fuel pumps what ever selection i make/made will be out of production and seriously out dated.

The Bosch 044 has an excellent reputation used externally and is very popular with higher hp cars in conjunction with a sumped tank.

It has been used for years as an internal pump as well, but, it has always made me wonder just how reliable that is long term. 

Rock Valley, in Illinois, makes conversion tanks for fuel injection that makes it easy to install fuel injection on older cars with an in tank pump with proper baffling.

I am sure there are others.  The problem with using a regular tank, like I did with my Elky, is the lack of baffling that will keep the pick up submerged under hard acceleration.

BTW, external pumps are usually very noisy and I have found that I got tired of listening to the car resonating with fuel pump noise

I could hear the external pump in the Challenger over the open exhaust.....ge rotor pumps are much better tho I can hear the bubbles when the tank gets low
