Further annoyance

Before I install this MAF translator, i plan to replace a few vacuum hoses because the ones that were on the car are cracked. Went to one of the stores near me, and they gave me a hose thats slightly larger than the original. I didnt think it would make that big of deal, until I installed and the car barely wants to run due the vacuum leaks.  I mean, it sounds like a flat tire underneath the hood of the car. Anyway, does anyone know of an exact size hose i should ask for??  thanks

I would take the old hoses to the parts house to match the sizes. I beleive that there are a few diffent sizes of vacuum hoses on my car

well yeah, i did that at first. the guy said they didnt have any that size and he gave me one that was slightly bigger.  maybe i should've went somewhere else. i threw the old hoses away, which is why im posting. thanks

Personally, I bought 3-4 rolls of various sizes from Rock Auto - dirt cheap. Then I can match up the sizes better. And use zip ties on all the lines.

originals were metric sized, but, I always just bought a selection of hoses and used the ones that fit tightly,

Some places do carry metric sizes.

Just go to the parts store and buy a couple of feet of each size beginning with "teeny" and ending with 3/8" for the pcv line

Yep - a different store.

I stocked up at Rock - prices are a LOT lower than buying at the local parts store.

But sometimes you need it NOW!

Thats a good point.  And Supersix, you are 100% right!!!! Sometimes you need it now.

Not true - You save enough to cover freight and then some. We all order regularly from Rock Auto, right?


I miss the big stands where you could cut your own.

Steve's right - I needed some small hose for the Acura - The per foot price when you buy in a little section is crazy.

Autozone had exactly what i needed!!  Fixing those vacuum hoses seemed to have helped out a lot.  The car idles a ton better and runs a lot smoother.  That issue that I was having when i described the feeling of the TC locking and unlocking has magicly disappeared.  Now i'm a little more excited about install this translator.
