having trouble with powerlogger install
« on: February 27 2012, 06:14:26 PM »
I just installed powerlogger on my new toshiba notebook.
when I hit "monitor",  a message pops up and says "could not open port".
laptop is plugged in to the ecm.  key is on.
I've got the latest drivers installed from the full throttle forums.

I just tried to call full throttle store, but their already closed for the evening.
I'm at a friends place trying to troubleshoot a no start on his 87 tr.
fuel pressure looks good. Its trying to start, popping like it has spark.
I wanted to plug into it and see what the tps and maf is showing.

any ideas on my "could not open port" message?
tia

no...the full throttle forum has a section for PL, last time I looked, Bob had a post on driver problems.

If you have more than one port...try the other...worked for me.

Turn the key off...try restarting the computer...and restarting PL...but plugged into the other port. PL has some funny quirks.

Mine was the same. Only works on Port #4 from what I remember.

the only 2 rules you need to remember is no smoking 8 hours before you fly, and no drinking within 50 feet of the airplane

lol!
well, I only smoke when I play guitar (cause it makes me look cool  :icon_kidra:  )
and flying a aircraft under the influence is something I've never done, but.... I have made some very very very poor choices when it comes to some of the basket cases of a mess hanging on wings, that I've chosen to fly.
those days are over, thank the lord!
its amazing some of the things a young pilot will do to build flight time.  heck, I got more single engine time than multi-engine time in a twin otter because most the time one of the engines would go out during flight  :O
