their way/your way/my way its a hobby so why the fuss
« on: February 09 2012, 07:35:06 PM »
I don't NEED an 11.50 or better time slip - I want
I don't NEED N2O -  I want
I don't NEED an alky nozzle before the IC's inlet -  I want
I don't NEED direct port alky injection. -  I want
I don't NEED a WB -  I want
and the list goes on.

What i don't get why its so hard to embrace some one else ideas for their car NOT yours??

wrong and right i understand.
But why the fuss about different.

just imagine going to a car show or the track and every single car is the same, wow that sounds like fun. :rolleyes;

My car is my "stay out of trouble" hobby i love tinkering with it changing things around doing things different.

I have a 1968 Chevelle with a GN engine you can't guess how many times i've gotten "why didn't / don't you just put a BBC with a 4 speed manual and 4.11s."
because i wanted something different DUHHH

If i was building a car to compete then i would agree with most that i should go with an XYZ, proven and repeatable formula.

Again this is NOT a car made to compete its hobby to learn, have fun, talk shit with my friends/family and keep me out of trouble with the wife.

So i guess i can understand why the big dogs look at my stupid ideas as just stupid ideas as they would probably just go for what works instead of what would be more fun.

Relax!  Who gives a damn what others think about such?  It's your car, it's your time, and, it's your money.  You can always put the bbc in an
AMC Javilin, or better yet, a Gremlin.

I was going to pul the buick out of my Elky and put it in the Vega wagon that I bought when I first came out here.  But, someone down in Houston wanted the Elky so I sold it and put an end to that plan.

I dont give a rat's ass what people think about my cars - never have. As evidenced by how bad the paint is on my 87 T.

Most of their comments are rooted in jealousy anyway - people that arr smart know that your Olds is a kick ass piece.

Now that would be an interesting car! I imagine something like Paul's Celica (Quick Toy) The only real issue he has is getting traction!  :O

So i guess i can understand why the big dogs look at my stupid ideas as just stupid ideas as they would probably just go for what works instead of what would be more fun.

You don't know how many times I heard get rid of that POS and buy an IC car, or throw a SBC in it and have some fun. :icon_fU:  My car isn't even running right now but with just the ideas I've worked on and posted about the C/T HA cars one has already shaved 1 second off the old 1/4 mile time.  If eveything goes right I'll be able to make it 2 seconds off the old record and that will set a few guys on edge since they can't even get their cars to run right.  It's your car and you've got to be happy with it so do what you want and enjoy it. :atbeer:

I never really cared what anybody ever thought of my cars or what I've done to them. I have a project in the back of my mind invovling a 440 and a Procharger. The GN though just about uses up all my resources, mostly ambition. You obviously have more ambition than me. But than again tinkering on a car during my free time is like a mailman taking a walk on his day off. Keep on doing what you're doing and have fun.
