Phil, save this chart for future refrence.

http://www.turbobuicks.com/resources/TurboBuicks.com_ECM_Error_Codes.pdf

42= C31 Electronic Spark Timing (EST) fail

Try checking your Knock Sensor and EST module (on passengers inner fender)
The EST monitors knock and sends timing correction signals to the ignition module.
Also look for sources of false knock. (loose bolts, valvetrain, etc... Note an
overly rich condition can also cause false knock) I'll look up the code 42 diag procedure when I'm back at work and post it for you.

Wow... Thanks Robert....  I didnt even know about the EST module.... I thought that was the Ignition Module, one in the same...  oops.

So the 42 could be caused by the knock sensor?

I have the error code chart in the car with me.

Hey, check your codes without the Scanmaster too. I've gotten the SES light without the SM picking anything up.

Do you have pics of you car posted anywhere Phil?

Rust free T?  Don't sell it without giving me first dibs...I'd give her a warm caring home.

Nah, 'cause everytime you'd hit the gas, it'd be like flushing a toilet full of gas ! :rofl;

No doubt! Ever use a 50cc accelerator pump on a Holley? I think the linkage is hooked up the gas gauge after that.

I am an old, (very old, ha) holley carb user, the worst offenders are 50 cc double pumpers, mechanical secondaries, & center squiters, . Nothing holds a candle to then for pure fuel waste.

Egads it's a GN!?!  I've got one of those...I want a T or a T-Type that isn't white (but I'd still take Gary's since it's such a survivor).

I was using a 4160 for a while with the secondarys linked up with a stop screw. After a couple of blown power valves, I went up to the 4150. And then abandoned all for Q-Jets.

I've had better luck than most when it comes to tweaking
a Quadra Bog, but I went to a Carter AFB in the pickup for all
the tuning options available without a power valve. I still
feel a properly tuned Holley has better throttle response.
I also find that the check valves that they sell to protect
the power valve seem to hinder the throttle response in a
Holley.IMHO

Oh, and Phil, your car looks nice in the pics. But I'd recommend
hitting that guy in the first pic with a shovel or something, and tell
him to get away from your car !  :rofl;

Bah! A properly tuned Q-Jet (feedback! No less!) will hand with a Holley and get better gas mileage. It's all in the hanger, needles and air valve. But that's also a lot of scrounging in boneyards. I love my Q-Jets. AFB's don't flow enough and Holley's flow too much, at least for me.
