God's Country
« on: July 30 2011, 01:52:18 PM »
We say the part of Texas where I live is God's Country.  The prevailing belief behind that saying is that only God could love it.

So far this year, we have recorded the most triple digit days (close to 70) since they starting keeping records 117 years ago.  August is just around the corner and it is often the hottest month.

We have recorded the most consecutive triple digit days-around 28 or 29, but, I think it will not make it today so we may get a couple of days break before starting again.

It is the driest year ever recorded.  I think I may have had 4" of rain since last September.  No single rain was enuf to green anything up, or make it grow.

I wonder where the devil relocated to?  West Virginia?  No wait, Rich Rodriquez moved on to Michigan-temporarily.

A lot of broken parts does not make you a racer; it makes you a slow learner.

I love the heat. Walked for over 4 hours the other day -- the sign at the bank said 100 degrees. Give me hotness and keep the damn cold stuff up in Canada where it belongs.

Yea Zap, that's cool and all, but shit - 4" of rain since LAST year? That's brutal. It's been tolerable here - overcast and somewhat rainy. Last few days have been HOT though. That, and massive humidity :(

I have seen 111 twice at my house...and 103-104 has been the norm.  But, no rain is the devastating part.  I can deal with the heat altho I admit that when it passes 100, I don't care to

I has never been 100 degrees here - too close to the ocean. Stifling humidity though.

Hey, at least you don't have to mow the lawn! :D
