True SS.

I spent 5 or so years being a dedicated recycler. I liked it. If you've ever recycled you'd know that 90% or whatever of your trash is reusable.

One morning I saw the trash man pick up my recycables. I was like "wait". He proceed to tell me they've always picked up my recycables because they were never put into a recycling bin. My trash goes in the can, my recycables go on the ground. I didn't have a recycling bin. I didn't know.

Now, when I see commercials about water bottles stretching around the world, I know why. Haven't recycled since and I'm back to regular trash. I still keep food out of my trash and haven't had a funky smelling kitchen in years but it sucks to throw out all that plastic with just a little bit of soil.

I just save the beer cans. It ain't much but they do give me a little cash every few months and the wife and I go eat lunch with it. The other stuff goes in a big green roller can to recycle and the trash goes out to the street on trash morning in a plastic bag. I save a lot of the plastic bottles and such to hold nuts n bolts and stiff when I'm working on stuff. I keep a marker handy to label the lid to help with reassembly.

I got a load of cans, come get 'em. I was saving them for some chick but she's moved away. Now I'm stuck with about 50#. I only get about 5 cans a month so it would have been easier to just throw them in the recycle bag. I saved them for her for nothing now I got a stockpile.

I only live a half mile from the scrapyard but that place is so scary I'm afraid I'd puncture my shoe let alone a tire with all the crap laying around. I swear to gawd a friend used a magnet in his firepit, collected a massive amount of nails and just threw them on his scrap trailer. Rolling around everywhere, lol. People round here scrap everything.

Scrap prices have dropped so low around here that even the tree trimmer folks have started trimming trees again

I heard that when gas prices fall scrap prices fall.

Scoobum, sounds to me like ur being scammed. You already pay for the trash man to pickup, then you have to pay again if it's "soiled"? Meanwhile, they collect your recycables and sell them for a third profit.

Or are they super awsome and only charge for soiled trash relying on thoes profits and recycled profits so they don't add trash collection to your taxes?

All hell broke loose here in town when the 'wet' fees came into effect. The town council meeting was ugly. We argued that we already pay fees in our tax bill...which we do for garbage removal. That fee was dropped from our tax bill by the end of the meeting.

they cut ours from being 1 can a week to 2 cans picked up every other week.   organics and blue/white box are picked up weekly.  Same deal gotta recycle everything or your garbage stinks by end of 2 weeks.

I work on fort hood and they are trying to have zero waste by 2020. It's a pain in the a$$!  The EPA folks will fine our company if they find anything that's not suppose to be in the trash. They monitor on a weekly basis. We have at least ten different cans in the break room for all the different types of recyclables.
