Is this the forward drum shaft?

Got this nice surprise this weekend when I took out the transmission. That, and the driveshaft loop held in with 1/2 driven wrong-thread, hood bolts.   :flat;

Is this the forward drum shaft?

Grease. The knurling/wear on the "ribs" is what alarms me.

It's the stator, pretty common in high HP cars, surprising it didn't break yet.

Appears to be set up for one of those gayass LU convertors.

Nothing wrong with a LU convertor...ju st find one that hasn't been locked up at the track in 3rd gear at WOT on a regular basis.

I don't think I will be using the D5 I bought. Even though I grilled the guy I bought it from, I can't take a chance that it's got crap in it, and damaging the new trans. I have the Pat's 10" that was in the car - Stalled way too high. I am going to contact Pat's and see how much it will be to restall and clean it, I am thinking ~2400-2600?

Any tranny shop should be able to flush the d5 out for you.

I mentioned that - and he said the only effective way to flush the converter is to cut it open.

I emailed Pat's to see about re-stalling the 1003XHD.

With the Garrett .63 exhaust housing 2400-2600 should toast the weenies quite nicely. Get Steve's opinion on this as well. Hint. 1st gear fuel and 1-2 timing are adjustable with Erics chip...and Erics new 5.7 alky chip has the 1-2 timing coming in quicker.
